Make a difference in a child’s life…

Did you know that the number one resiliency factor in children is having one stable adult relationship? Having just one caring neighbor, grandparent, or other mentor like role model in a child’s life, can make a world of difference; for a child it can mean the difference between a life on the streets or becoming the first in their family to attend college.

St. Francis Neighborhood Center is starting a new program in the Spring of 2009 (March) called The Power Project. It’s a youth development program that is comprised of three components: education (academic achievement), the arts (visual arts, music, and dance), and mentoring. The program would run in the evenings (3-7PM) Monday-Thursday.

We are seeking volunteers to fill the following positions related to The Power Project:

-Mentors

-Chief Academic Instructor

-Chief Art Instructor

-Chief Dance Instructor

-Chief Music Instructor
