Community Programs

Wednesday Food Distributions

In partnership with So What Else we host weekly grocery distributions on Wednesdays in front of our building starting at 11 am and continuing until supplies run out. Please contact us (volunteer@stfranciscenter.org) for more information or if you would like to volunteer to assist.

Senior Socials (Returning September 10th!)

In 2023, we kicked off a new weekly event for community members ages 55+. Join us every Tuesday from 9 AM - 12 PM to check out our facilities, find out about resources, play games, relax in our café, and get to know one another! Be sure to enter through the Whitelock St. side entrance. Help us spread the word!

Contact our Community Engagement Manager (angela@stfranciscenter.org) with any questions.

Sheng Zhen Meditation Classes (Returning September 12th!)

Relax, Recharge, and Heal - weekly on Thursdays from 10-11 AM in the SFNC Cafe, led by community members Peter Van Buren & Donna Blackwell. These restorative Sheng Zhen Meditation classes at SFNC are free and open to all.

Narcotics Anonymous

This is operated by the NA branch of Baltimore City.  The Center provides space and resources to facilitate this program.  Meetings take place on Saturdays from 2:00-3:30 PM in the Center.  They are confidentially led by trained and committed volunteers who have completed the program themselves.  Participants are supported throughout this process in a safe and understanding environment free from judgment and prejudice.

Contact Rodell Bailey El. at  rbaileyel@yahoo.com or 443-475-6696 for more information on this program.

Community Computer Lab Hours

Need to type your resume, fill out an application, or just want to leisurely use a computer? The Computer Lab serves all age groups (youth through the elderly)  in an effort to simultaneously build community connections while delivering much-needed life-skills training. The lab is currently open to the community every Wednesday from 9 AM - 1 PM. Contact service@stfranciscenter.org to schedule time outside of open lab hours.

Notary Public Service

SFNC is proud to offer free notary public services to neighbors in the 21217 zip code. Please note that these services are available by appointment only, primarily on Wednesdays. Mortgage documents are not eligible for notarization at this time. Do not pre-sign any materials. Email notary@stfranciscenter.org to learn more!

Adult Education

In collaboration with various Baltimore City and Reservoir Hill Community Partners, we strive to regularly provide job readiness training workshops, personal finance classes, guest speakers, mentoring, etc. to the broader 21217 community.  When SFNC is not actively hosting workshops, we can provide supplementary resources for neighborhood residents to contact other community partners who may be able to assist.

Please see our event calendar, newsletter and social media for updates.

Green Ups

Community clean up days and maintaining our green spaces in our shared neighborhood are just a few of the activities we host.  Neighborhood residents work together to improve the community not only in an effort to beautify, but also to educate and provide resources needed to create a healthy and sustainable environment within the community. Sign up for our volunteer newsletter to get notified of any upcoming opportunities.

Stoop Nights - Quarterly (Day & Week every 3rd Month TBD)

St. Francis holds quarterly gatherings that provide an opportunity for all residents to socialize and hear updates from our staff and leadership. Historically over 100 residents from all over the neighborhood come to mingle and break bread together. Building a sense of community through food is a tried and true method of nourishing the mind, body, and soul.

Corpus Christi Grocery Bag Program

Once a week on Mondays, Corpus Christi Catholic Church distributes groceries from the Center.  They provide residents with the opportunity for a free bag of groceries.  Being a resident in Reservoir Hill/Penn North is required, as is providing an ID. (9 am - 11 am) Contact Beth Steinrock - Beth.Steinrock@archbalt.org for more information on how to enroll in this program.

Event Space Rental

Our newly renovated Center has rooms available for special events to rent. Reservoir Hill/Penn North residents are offered a discount. Please contact Wayne Taylor, our Operations Director at wayne@stfranciscenter.org for details.

Reservoir Hill Resource Fair and Music Festival

Reservoir Hill/Penn North residents have historically had limited access to education, healthcare and food resources due to the low numbers of medical practices, clinics, hospitals and food retailers in the neighborhood. The resource fair was created in 2005 to bring awareness to available resources to help address these areas of disparity and interest to the neighborhood but over time has grown to include live music, fun activities for kids, food trucks, and local craft vendors. Today the fair brings hundreds of Baltimore City residents alongside our neighbors together for a day of entertainment, food and celebration.  This is always held the first Saturday in August. Videos featuring the festival can be found at the following links.
