Our High School Interns gain valuable professional and entrepreneurial skills, build meaningful relationships, and take actionable steps toward planning for life beyond academics through this comprehensive workforce development program. Designed specifically for high school students, the internship offers an immersive experience in a nonprofit environment, where participants are introduced to real-world responsibilities, teamwork, and community engagement.
Interns are placed in one of several service areas within the organization, such as youth education, community outreach, operations, or administrative support. Under the guidance and mentorship of professional staff members at St. Francis Neighborhood Center, they gain “on-the-ground” experience that helps them develop workplace confidence, time management, communication skills, and a sense of accountability. These placements expose students to the inner workings of a nonprofit organization and highlight the importance of service, leadership, and civic engagement.
Through hands-on projects and mentorship, interns not only contribute meaningfully to the mission of the Center but also build a strong foundation for future academic and career pursuits. By the end of the program, students leave with a clearer vision of their goals, a deeper understanding of their potential, and the competitive edge needed to succeed in future internships, jobs, or college endeavors.
